The Gray Area Foundation For The Arts (GAFFTA) is calling on all designers, architects, artists, makers, coders and activists to participate in the Urban Prototyping Festival in San Francisco this fall.
“Makers” with projects that engage citizen participation, open source data, urban design or ways to innovate urban space are encouraged to apply to the open call for projects, “makeathon” and street exhibition as part of this three-month festival. Examples of projects in the spirit of urban prototyping include transforming parking spaces into mini-public parks and a public messaging campaign to encourage walking. Projects accepted during the open call or makeathon are eligible to earn funding from a $25,000 pool of stipends. The first deadline for submission is August 20.
