In an Earth Day special, MTV’s Pimp My Ride will feature the greening of a ’65 Chevy Impala. During this very special episode of Pimp My Ride the crew will be replacing the original engine of the Impala with a 800 horsepower diesel engine that will run on biodiesel. While this should be entertaining, chances are it won’t touch EMBARQ‘s Mexico City Diesel Retrofit video

Old, ineffective filters being swapped out with shiny, new, cleaner, high-tech particulate filters.
where EMBARQ, the Mexico City Government, the Center for Sustainable Transport in Mexico, and the US EPA tricked out 20 buses with diesel particulate filters (DPF), diesel oxidation catalysts (DOC) and ran them on ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel (ULSD), demonstrating the potential to easily eliminate up to 90% of the harmful particulate emissions from new diesel buses and up to 20% from old diesel buses. Imagine the public health benefits if they “pimped” the whole fleet!
