Yes, neodymium and dysprosium will continue to be needed for permanent magnets which go into the permanent magnet needed in each vehicle and essentially has no substitute; but, the day of the NiMH battery (which employs lanthanum) is numbered as lithium-ion batteries are already set to be introduced in a number of manufacturers&#039; hybrids including the Chevy Volt and Mercedez S40 Blue Hybrid. Only the Japanese hybrids such as the Prius will continue to use the less-efficient NiMH and even they are set to upgrade. A bigger concern is all the neodymium and dysprosium that is needed in a wind turbine.</description>
